A number of visitor to Taman Negara will ask about the trekking, hiking trails. Taman Negara offer serveral trails from 2 hours to 7 days trek, easy to harder. Below is the Taman Negara trails map, you can get this easily from any tour desk or hotel. For better map you need to buy it from the Wildlife Department.
Green Line– Easy trail, you can do it by your own. Usually take less than 4 hours to complete.
Orange Line – Medium trail, consider a day trek. 4 – 8 hours to complete. You must hire a guide to do the trek under law of Wildlife Department.
Red Line – An overnight trek from 2 days to 7 days. A guide and camping equipment require for this trek. Not allow to do it by yourself.
Easy trail with clear signtboard to show you the way. No.4 is canopy walkway and after that you need to trek uphill around 40 mins to No.5. Beware of the trail from No 5 -> No.6, walking down in a steep path and cover by number of fallen tree. If you not sure the way, turn back.
Kuala Trenggan trail, a trail along the bank of Sungai Tembeling leads 9.5km. A popular trail for those heading to the Bumbun Kumbang hide. 7 hours to complete. It’s normally done by chartering a boat head up Kuala Trenggan and walking back to the park headquarter
Lata Berkoh trail, walking a long the Tahan river. Two swiming spot on the trail, Lata Berkoh and Lubok Simpon. Do charter a boat upstream and trek back, 5 hours. Before start trek, please check at the wildlife department regarding the water level.
Yong trail, most of it is flat ground and 4 hours to complete. Along the way you will passby 1 or 2 aborginal village. Ear cave is located at no.9 but it’s closed in year 2008. Because the exit was collapsed. Beware of the small path way, it will lead you to no where. Always follow on the main path.
A very popular trail in Taman Negara. Keniam trail located around 25KM north from Kuala Tahan village. The trip will take you 2 days and you have to trek around 9KM each day. A lot of ground operator organize the trip. You may ask your hotel or any tour desk regarding the information
From Kuala Tahan, this trek takes roughly three to four days, and takes you to remote corners of the park. Not many local operator organize this trip, you need to ask the information at Wildlife Department.
Gunung Tahan, located in Taman Negara is one of the most challenging mountains to climb. The trek requires you to be mentally and physically fit. Medical check up and sufficient trainings prior to the trekking are important to accomplish your expedition plan.
